Location Khomanani, South Africa

  • Take ownership and timely follow up on incidents and requests as an assignee and register, categorize, classify, prioritize and dispatch incidents and requests
  • Provide level 1, level 2 and level 3 application and application process support
  • Analyse application issues and provide workaround or permanent resolution and communicate in timely manner in line with the agreed service scope and service levels
  • Assure high level of accuracy and completeness related to incidents and requests, and where possible resolve or provide workarounds, suggestions and improvements to mitigate future incidents.
  • Communicates urgent incident statuses to levels of Management as appropriate
  • Escalate application errors to Application Management team for them to start Problem Management for root cause identification and permanent resolution
  • Provide replication of steps for application malfunction to support Problem Management in root cause identification
  • Identify and communicate possible application, service or process related improvements to relevant stakeholders for further investigation and consideration of error prevention
  • Perform smaller data recovery tasks for the sake of data integrity and data consistency as per instruction and following support principles and procedures
  • Perform smaller mass data updates requested by the customer as per instruction and following support principles and procedures
  • Apply appropriate user account management procedures
  • Assist in recommending and applying changes in support practices, maintenance and standards
  • Assist in cross-training required to better share application support competency and responsibilities across the IT Service Delivery Services Operations function and with connected functions and stakeholders
  • Assist in maintenance and creation of support documents (content) and any other necessary resources to facilitate re-use and enhance competency and efficiency of the IT Service Delivery Operations function
  • Maintain documentary evidence in support of compliance with all auditable processes
  • Perform quality assurance (Operations acceptance) testing for any emergency and minor changes
  • Participate in service operational reviews, ensuring SLA, KPI and other data / information is provided to assist with such reviews
  • Participate in the process of transition new solutions and applications and projects into the IT Service Delivery Operations environment, assist in ensuring all service acceptance and operational deliverables have been successfully developed and agreed and required knowledge has been received prior to handover.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, designed procedures, internal controls and security principles
  • Alert the Operations Manager IT Service Delivery of any shortages and performance issues within the support chain.

Your Profile * Vocational education preferably in the area of IT

  • High school diploma or higher education with experience of working within a service organization.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience supporting ERP system in a similar position
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in managing support calls, incidents, root cause analysis and providing workarounds and permanent solutions
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience working in international and common framework
  • Strong experience in formal change and release management processes
  • Strong experience in escalation procedures and admin procedures such as quality assurance
  • Delegating and allocating tasks/work within the team
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to think conceptually and employ continuous improvement methods
  • Excellent time management skills – keeping to schedules, delivering work in time; ensuring high quality delivery and the ability to prioritize workload
  • Sound AS/400 knowledge
  • Sound Query/400 and SQL knowledge
  • Sound DB2 knowledge
  • Sound AS/400 DB Editor like WRKDBF
  • Sound knowledge in Embedded SQL (desirable)
  • ITIL know-how and/or certification/s
  • Strong capabilities to understand the key business processes that are in scope
  • Strong application knowledge and support skills across all applications that are in scope
  • Strong flexibility to adapt to change and willing to learn new technologies and develop new skills as applicable
  • Ability to achieve desired results by encouraging and supporting the contributors of others possession of required knowledge, skills and experience to work effectively with others throughout the organization
  • A proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize, manage and track numerous concurrent activities to successful outcomes
  • Strong customer focus – meeting and exceeding expectations, resolving issues and developing solutions to meet customer needs
  • Strong English communication (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate in a positive, friendly and effective manner
