The Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) identifies, develops, and maintains Dorchester Collection Dubai the sales and marketing objectives strategy, with the development of a short-, medium- and long-term strategy and the roll out of the individual steps to ensure success. The DOSM must be able to work with the Revenue team as well as the operations team and ensure there is alignment across all areas.

Ultimately the financial success of the business will come from a synergy across all areas of the business and everyone moving in the same direction with the same focus.

As a key member of the Executive Team, the DOSM should be exceptional on all levels and should be recognized as a leader who can competently guide each member of their team. The DOSM has the responsible for cultivating a team of individuals who will engage in a thoughtful and considerate manner with guests, residents, staff and business partners alike, with the focus on creating positive experiences and lifelong memories for all parties.

The DOSM is responsible for the direct sales and marketing at both Residences and Hotels and needs to have a solid network of contacts in both the leisure and group segments. Just as importantly, the DOSM must be able and willing to work these markets.

The position also oversees the Sales, Catering, Communication and Marketing departments, and works in partnership with the Hotel Manager and Director of Operations to guide the Contact Centre and Revenue teams. The DOSM is responsible for:

Actively engaging with the successful pre-opening and launch of Dorchester Collection Dubai The Dorchester Hotel Dubai and The Residences, and the post launch of One at Palm Jumeirah Dubai

To establish a strong global network of contacts across the group and leisure segments and ensure there is a secure flow of business into the hotel from the onset – ensuring that the market segmentation and profiling of the guest is in line with Dorchester Collection profile

To provide leadership and management support to The Dorchester Hotel Dubai and residences teams

Providing effective leadership, to build capability and drive performance across the sales teams, based within the hotel and working elsewhere

To work in a collaborative way with the Revenue team ensuring the common goals established by the General Manager are targets that all parties strive to achieve

To work with Marketing in communicating DC narrative Essential Functions & Physical

Requirements A day in the life of the Director of Sales and Marketing demands a high level of energy. The individual needs to act in a consistent and thorough manner and demonstrate creativity and innovation as part of the Executive Leadership team.

As part of our Executive team, the successful candidate will be key for the wider strategy of the hotel and residences and needs to collaborate closely with the Executive Committee towards success on all levels

Executive and Leadership team, The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for all areas of sales and marketing

Directs and develops department heads in Sales, Catering, Communication, and Marketing for the business, in conjunction to providing guidance across the property on the sales strategies

Provide leadership and support to the operations teams, sharing with them the common sales and marketing strategies

The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for helping to build and maintain the culture of employee and guest engagement, ensuring that the individual teams delivering the ultimate guest experience, optimizing revenue, and maximizing profit

As part of the Executive Committee, the Director of Sales and Marketing should actively participate in the development of annual budgets and strategic plans these budgets are the foundation of the annual budget development and monthly forecasts thereafter

Establish quarterly/yearly performance goals for all sales, catering sales teams and subsequently monitor individual and group performance on a monthly basis. The Director of Sales and Marketing holds ultimate accountability for the performance of the business. All goals should be collaborated with the General Manager, Director of Finance and Director of Revenue

Analysis sales statistics to better understand business trends and opportunities, growth potential and new opportunities

The Director of Sales and Marketing sets out to achieve the pre agreed objectives established in the annual sales and marketing plan and the annual financial budget

Help coordinate sales operations with all other departments/divisions as required

Achieves established hotels goals for financial performance, market share, customer, and employee satisfaction

Develops and/or maintains and improves business relations with all customers and clients

Challenges the team to seek out and target new customers and new sales opportunities, initiates action plans to approach and secure new business

Directs the communications and marketing team on marketing strategies (digital and traditional) with the intention of increasing overall revenues and profitability for all revenue producing departments for the Hotel in conjunction with Dorchester Collection brand standard

Qualifications and Desirables

Education

Degree level education or College Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising or a related and relevant fieldExperience

10 years in international deluxe hotel operational experience in hotel leadership role5 years experience as line manager

Pre-Opening experience preferred

Experience across 2 Continents a bonus

Functional Knowledge

Extensive experience preferred in a luxury 5-star establishment including leadership of a team

In depth knowledge of sales, marketing, communication

Previous management experience in sales, marketing, revenue management, public relations and/or the tourism industry is required

Thorough understanding of financial, sales and marketing practices

An understanding of coaching and leading a team and all that falls within the jurisdiction from a human resource perspective

Good knowledge of IT systems (Sales, Catering, Reservations, Opera and Financial) and their application in a hotel environment

Have the ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations

Have the ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and vendors

Ability to work with mathematical concepts in budgetary (sales, operational product, and labour cost) foreca Benefit Package United Arab Emirates (UAE) Residence VisaAnnual leave entitlement
