Summary and role

Building on SAP’s intelligent enterprise strategy it is the mission of Business Process Intelligence (BPI) to assist our customers in navigating through their digital transformation, by helping them to understand and improve their business processes in a data-driven way.

We are looking for an experienced business architect and domain expert, who can lead the development of an ontology for process performance management along with the identification of state-of-the-art business practices conducive to performance optimization, both as related to one of the four business domains:

  • “Products/Services” (Idea to Market),
  • “Customer” (Lead to Cash),
  • “Supply” (Source to Pay, Plan to Fulfill), and
  • “Corporate” (Recruit to Retire, Acquire to Decommission, Finance, Governance).

The role will establish and maintain a Business Data Model (BDM), composed of a foundational layer of business terms and a hierarchical network of performance metrics built on top. The role is responsible to align the content with the Business Process Model (BPM) of the SAP Business Architecture Framework (BAF) and apply these consistent semantics to all BPI library content. The role will furthermore capture performance-driving business practices, identified in collaboration with internal and external experts, as BAF business process variants. Lastly, and in collaboration with the product teams in PE, proper mappings to solution scenario implementation content will be defined.

As a principal business architect and domain expert, you

  • Define the structure and approach for business performance and practice content creation in one our four business domains
  • Own the production roadmap for the domain, driving the collaborative creation of content, while ensuring its proper modeling, storage and dissemination via the content toolchain
  • Identify and engage thought leaders within SAP and across the SAP Ecosystem who can provide relevant guidance and input to this effort
  • Provide mentorship on content creation to all internal and external subject matter experts involved in the effort
  • Collaborate tightly with the respective leads of the BAF Business Process Model to ensure overall consistency of the domain
  • Provide guidance to the BPI tooling teams on the creation of business performance-related data, navigation, and analytical structures
  • Present results publicly, acting as an advocate for BPI’s thought leadership in the space

Work Experience

  • 10+ years in customer facing business advisory and/or transformation roles with clear track record of business performance improvement successes
  • 10+ years of hands on business analysis and value network analysis
  • 10+ years of using Business Process Management methodologies
  • 5+ years in usage and creation of accelerators or non-coded content
  • 5+ Years in software development
  • Practical usage and implementation of SAP Innovation and Optimization Pathfinder, SAP Spotlight, or process mining software a plus
  • Practical usage and implementation of process automation software a plus
  • Result driven leadership at global level in matrixed structures across multiple locations

Education & Qualifications/ Skills and competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, accounting, information systems, or related disciplines. MBA a plus
  • Profound knowledge of performance management along the entire business process management lifecycle from analysis to design, implementation and monitoring
  • Practical experience with establishing process measurement systems that align with organizational goals
  • Thorough understanding of goals, organizations, stakeholders, inputs and outputs, processes and metrics in your domain
  • Experience with the usage of performance measurement, design, and simulation tools
  • Hands-on experience with the SAP Analytics and performance management portfolio
  • Good general knowledge of the SAP Product portfolio
  • Familiarity with the SAP Enterprise Architecture Methodology (fka IndRA)
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong drive to get things done and willingness to get hands on to support the team
