The Core Darwin team within Apple’s Core OS organization is looking for an exceptional engineer to work on Darwin Runtime technologies for Apple’s operating systems. This team is responsible for building the low level user land runtime technologies like Grand Central Dispatch, XPC, launchd, pthread, malloc, Libc, and logging infrastructure. These technologies provide a stable, fast, and high quality foundation on which iOS & macOS frameworks and applications are developed. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and effective in operating in an environment with little overhead, and also have a desire to learn and develop technical expertise and leadership.
Working on core technologies for macOS and iOS, you will have the opportunity to have a major impact on the design and implementation of Apple’s consumer products. Our environment fosters product innovation, rapid product iteration, and a liberating amount of autonomy!
Key Qualifications
- Genuine passion for low-level systems technology
- Deep and current understanding of the C programming language
- Strong understanding of operating system fundamentals like threading, synchronization primitives, inter-process communication, and process lifecycle
- Experience with UNIX systems
- Highly professional with ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules
- Demonstrated creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent collaborative skills, including written and verbal communication
Description
Work with a highly skilled engineering team to design and implement new features and maintain Darwin Runtime technologies
Participation in all phases of software development cycle: from problem definition and design, through implementation, debugging and testing
Diagnose and resolve customer-reported issue
Work with cross functional teams to support developer and product requirements
Education & Experience
B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Additional Requirements
- Knowledge of operating systems internals, hardware architecture, and assembly programming Knowledge of Swift, Objective-C, or C++
- Experience with scripting language
- Involvement in open source technologies and development communities such as Darwin, FreeBSD, Linux, etc
